Router is in the cupboard under the stairs if you ever need to restart it — switch off for 30 seconds, then back on.

Check-in — from 3:00 PM

1. The key is in the black lockbox to the right of the front door.
2. Enter the code 0000 and slide the cover down to open.
3. Please return the key to the lockbox when you head out and on departure.

🚗 Park on the driveway (space for 2 cars). Please do not block the neighbours’ access.

Check-out — by 10:00 AM

1. Strip the beds and leave used towels in the bath.
2. Load and start the dishwasher.
3. Pop the heating down to 15°C and close all windows.
4. Return the key to the lockbox and scramble the code.

Heating & hot water

Thermostat is on the hallway wall. Turn the dial to set the temperature; hot water is on a timer but you can boost it with the orange button on the boiler in the kitchen.

The TV

Use the black remote to turn on. Netflix, iPlayer and Disney+ are all signed in — just pick from the home screen. If the screen is blank, press "Source" and choose HDMI 1.

Kitchen

Dishwasher tablets are under the sink. The coffee machine takes ground coffee (beans in the cupboard). Bin and recycling info is in the Bins section below.

Log burner

Logs and kindling are in the basket by the hearth. Please use the guard when lit and never leave it unattended. Do not burn anything other than the wood provided.

Eat & drink

• Homeground Coffee + Kitchen The buzzy go-to in town for brunch and proper coffee, a couple of minutes’ walk away on Main Road.
• The Crafty Baa Tiny, characterful craft-beer bar just off Victoria Street — great for a relaxed pint and a chat.
• Hole in t’ Wall (Bowness) The oldest pub in Bowness, full of character. Good ales and hearty food down by the lake.

Shops & essentials

• Booths The main supermarket, on Victoria Street in town — everything you need, a short stroll or drive.
• Co-op Handy for essentials and open late if you run short after Booths shuts.
• Pharmacy On Crescent Road in town for anything you’ve forgotten.

On the water & days out

• Windermere Lake Cruises Steamers leave Bowness pier for Ambleside and Lakeside — the loveliest way to see the lake. Colour-coded routes for a short spin or a full day out.

• Bowness-on-Windermere The lakeside village, about a mile downhill (20-min walk, short drive, or hop on the bus). Shops, ice cream, the pier and the World of Beatrix Potter.
• Brockhole on Windermere The National Park’s visitor centre on the lakeshore — gardens, adventure play, café and treetop nets. A great family day.

Walks & fells

• Orrest Head The classic Windermere walk — 20–30 minutes up from near the station to a full sweep of the lake and fells. Where Wainwright first fell for the Lakes. Perfect first-evening leg-stretch.
• School Knott A quieter hill just east of town, about 1.5 hours round-trip, with lovely views back over the lake.
• Biskey Howe A short, steep climb to a viewpoint above Bowness — a big reward for little effort.

• No smoking or vaping inside the house.
• No parties or events.
• Quiet please between 10pm and 8am — the neighbours are lovely, let’s keep it that way.
• Well-behaved dogs welcome by prior arrangement.
